When Jess started Seed Financial in 2015, she had no finance background, no degree, and no network. She'd spent the previous years raising her kids in the middle of the WA outback, following James around the state as he built his career in education.
Her opening goal wasn't to build a high-performing business — it was simply to earn a part-time income from home while she raised her kids.

In 2021, Jess retired James from his career as a primary school principal. She sold Seed Financial at the end of 2025 so she could put every ounce of energy and focus into one business — Scale School.

While running Seed, Jess built Adiption Nails — an e-commerce brand she started from scratch, built 100% online, that hit $700k in revenue in just over two years with no existing audience and no industry experience.
